Great blog! My daughter has several food allergies, therefore everything she can’t have, I have cut out of my diet as well. I’m always on the hunt for great allergy friendly recipes. Thank you so much for your great recipes!

Wow, I just found your blog and I am really excited! We are still unsure to what level nut allergy my son has, long story short, he had an anophylaxis reaction after starting Almond milk and the dr’s are convinced it was from an ear infection and not the milk. Can you say what??? Anyway, we avoid nuts at all costs just in case. I just started peeking around at the recipes but it occurred to me that even for people without allergies or just a few, these recipes seem healthier all around. Thanks!
Dee,
Thank you for your kind words! And my heart goes out to you and your family with the anaphylaxis. While I was the kid going through it, I cannot imagine being in my parents’ position through that traumatic experience. I am glad your boy is OK.
Anyways, there is a lot of controversy over what causes allergies, whether or not people have allergies, etc. Thus, doctors can be rather sketchy at determining for sure whether or not an allergy exists.
For instance, I had such horrible digestive issues, that by the end of college, I had visited several gastrointestinal doctors, and NONE of them said that I had a gluten intolerance. It was not until I cut out gluten that all, and I mean, all ALL of my digestive issues went away. Some things modern tests just cannot detect, as the way some people have allergic reactions to food is not natural, at all, and most probably comes from years of putting non-natural things in our food.
I think you are very smart for avoiding nuts at all costs. Anaphylaxis is not from ear infections. It is from an immediate response from an immediate stimulus to the immune system, and an ear infection is not a sudden onset, but a gradual build-up of infectious material in the ear.
I hope this helps! There are so many ways to avoid allergies and still eat what you want. Make sure your son grows up knowing to read the ingredients on everything he ingests, and he’ll not only be safer, but learn more about food along the way!
Cheers,
Erica (Bubble Child)
